Impatiens – Lots of Heart

WP_20150804_019Impatiens is another flower that I plant every year.  They seem to get off to a slower start than the other flowers in the bed, but right in the middle of summer, when the sun is shining bright, they go crazy.  They start becoming the shining star of the flower bed.  I love the orange-red color of impatiens, so that is the one I always plant.  I’m such a creature of habit with respect to the flowers that I plant and the colors that I choose.

One trait impatiens have that won me over is its ability to recover after wilting.  If a flower is not drought tolerant, then this is the next WP_20150804_005best trait.  If it is out in the hot sun without watering, this plant will wilt to the point that you feel it is gone.  But then you water the bed and it pops back up, like nothing happened.  Just as pretty as always.  I love flowers that bloom wildly and are reliable and resilient.  This is one of those flowers.  Once a flower proves loyalty to me by doing well and has won me over with its beauty and heart, I stay with it forever.  Impatiens is one of my favorites that is always in my garden and I highly recommend it to you.
