I’ve always, always, loved flowers and the first flower I drafted for my gardening pleasure was the Geranium. The Geranium is reliable, dependable, and beautiful. I love Geraniums and buy them every year for my garden.
I now live in the great northwest, but I started my journey as a gardener in Oklahoma, where summers are hot and dry. I had several pots of flowers around an in-ground pool and manually watered them every evening. The Geraniums were so temperature and draught tolerant that they became my favorite flower. If I missed watering for a day, they still looked beautiful, where other flowers wilted. A flower that wilts easily is too delicate, requiring a great amount of maintenance, and will not remain beautiful for long. My energy and devotion goes to the flowers that are strong at heart, that push through hard times and still persist. Those are the flowers for me and the Geranium is the first flower that met that bar.
Every year, I plant Geraniums in my garden. They are always in pots, always red and many times accompanied by blue Lobelia or white Alyssum.
